Technology is increasing daily and plenty of consumers are facing new challenges about learning new forms of communication using computer hardware or software. What about sending faxes?

There is some difficulty in sending faxes over the IP telephony network. This is mostly due to software and networking restraints that are in place in many home systems. There is an alternate IP routing system that is coming into play to create a better way in which to operate fax software or fax machines in terms of the VOIP telephony technology, but this software could still be a few years away from hitting the market. There are programs, such as iFax, that can adapt to a fax machine and can switch networks to adapt to the fax machine’s needs on the VOIP phone. This serves as a message switching system, almost like sending a fax as a type of attachment to a call, and can be quite handy in many situations.

What is a PBX?

A PBX refers to Private Branch eXchange. This is a telephone exchange that services any particular office or “branch”, instead of a common carrier company that serves a variety of companies or the general public. The exchange, therefore, is only attached to one particular company. It is private because it serves only one company’s telephone needs and VOIP needs, creating a singular type of service that allows a company to set up its own network without relying on major telephone service companies to facilitate their networks.
