Pointers When Selecting Wireless Services
When choosing a wireless services carrier, where do you begin? The two things important to most people are price and coverage. Is the plan affordable and will you be able to make the calls you need to make where and when you need to make them? Will you be penalized for ending your contract early? First, analyzing your needs is foremost in beginning the process and then finding a plan that fits them the closest.
Your first task is to determine how you will be using your wireless services. Do you need long distance? Will you use it mainly on the weekends, or do you need more daytime minutes? Is the cell phones service mainly for emergencies? Will it be just one person on the plan, or do you need several lines? Both price and coverage go hand in hand. If you do not have proper coverage for your needs, the price you pay will increase dramatically.
It is best to investigate your local wireless services providers’ coverage areas to determine if they provide service where you intend to use the phone most frequently. Most coverage maps have the disclaimer that they are provided for general informational purposes only and that actual coverage may vary. A survey conducted by Consumer Reports regarding cell phones service and consumer electronics found that poor coverage was the biggest reason survey respondents switched carriers in the previous three years.
