What is anger management?

Anger management is the process of being able to learn how to effectively deal with anger when it arises. Anger is a natural process of the human body in certain situations. It is okay to get angry sometimes but it is when it begins to take over your life that problems arise. This is where anger management comes into play. Managing your anger into something more productive is a benefit to your mind, body and spirit. Too much anger is a devastating thing and not enough can be a bottle in which it stores up poisoning your attitude. Your goal is a healthy balance.

What is the difference between anger and rage?

Anger is a natural response to a certain situation. There will always be a certain type of person or a certain situation that can make you angry. That is perfectly normal. It is perfectly normal to become angry when you feel that you are being attacked. It is not normal to have anger escalate to the point where you are no longer in control of your actions. At this point anger is defined as rage because it is uncontrolled.

Why would passive people have an anger problem?

Just because a person seems passive and lets things roll off their back, so to speak, does not mean that they do not have an anger problem. They may be just bottling it up and it be destroying their peace of mind. One day they will be pushed too far and it will explode in a devastating way that will not only hurt themselves but someone else as well. Learning how to express your irritation and anger is a healthy process that everyone needs to undertake.
