Behind The Bow And Arrow
A great bow and arrow can make the world of sport so much fun. Archery clubs have been popping up all over the world, however, in the beginning these devices were not used for sport. According to scientists, ancient peoples as far back in history as 50,000 B.C. have been known to use the bow and its arrows to hunt for food and to keep themselves safe. The devices have an interesting and unique history that can help one better use them if they are looking to take up archery.
The bow and arrow became a great weapon after the creation of the compound bow. This happened around 1500 B.C on the steppes of central Asia. The compound bow was made of several components including sinew, wood, and bone that helped to make it stronger and more pliable. Bowhunting became easier thanks to the compound bow, but many people also met their demise with the new invention.
After the compound bow came the crossbow and the longbow. These were used in China, Rome, and as far away as in England. Many people were killed using these weapons, but they also provided a way for huge civilizations such as the Roman Empire to become mass conquerors and stay that way for long periods of time. Once that gunpowder was created, however, the use of the bow and arrows became limited. In today’s society, they are now viewed as being an essential part for a hunter that has the hobby of deer hunting. They can also be found in various forms of archery that even Olympics have now seen as being a very competitive sport.
