EU Vs US Animal Cruelty Laws
In the world, animal cruelty laws exist to varying degrees. For example, in the US, laws vary by state. The laws in other parts of the world are similar in the fact that they also vary from region to region. However, as the world progresses, the animals are becoming more and more protected from human abuse because of the world wide efforts of groups that are trying to change global laws to reflect animal rights.
The European Union governs the animal cruelty laws for companion animals, unlike the United States that leaves it up to the individual states to govern accordingly. The European laws take preventive actions rather than waiting to deal with the abusive owner after an animal has been abused. This is unlike the US, which does not have any preventive measures against animal cruelty.
Farm animals are also covered by the animal laws that the European Union has set forth. When it comes to farm animals, the transport and slaughter of these animals in the EU is much more progressive and stricter than in the United States. They rarely have issues, whereas the US is consistently in the news for unethical treatment of a variety of animals waiting for slaughter.
