What Is Depression Anxiety?

Depression anxiety is a fear that many people who experience depression have. Over twenty million individuals in the United States suffer from some form of depression. This is a major illness that people more than likely do not want to face. Many of those afflicted hope that this illness will just go away, however, that is not the case. Depression will only get worse if left untreated.

Depression anxiety usually stems from the stereotypes that society has about any mental illness. For years, movies and books have portrayed anxiety and depression as something that someone should be ashamed of having. This type of depression anxiety is usually from the stereotype of being locked in a padded cell alone or being tied to a bed with big fuzzy restraints.

This mental image could not be further from the truth. Today’s psychotherapies are done in a clinical setting where the facility may be in an actual hospital, but the clinic where treatment is administered is in a separate portion. Some people may not even have to go into a clinical setting to receive help for their depressive disorder. A person may just have to see a medical professional in an office for a one hour sitting.
