Vitamins Causing Diseases
Most people have the assumption that vitamins are good for the body. After all, our whole lives we’ve been told that vitamins can help us see better, feel better and rejuvenate better. They’re the little catalyst to keeping the body functioning at tip-top levels, right? Well, an alarming number of recent studies suggest that vitamin E actually increases incidences of heart failure!
In a seven-year international study spanning more than 10,000 patients, researchers from the American Medical Association found that those taking vitamin E supplements had no fewer occurrences of heart disease, strokes or cancer. In fact, the risk was 13% higher! Less controversial studies find that vitamin E simply has a placebo effect and is neither harmful nor beneficial in treating heart disease, cancer and strokes. Most doctors can agree that vitamins will always be important for optimal body function, but can be toxic if taken at extreme levels.
Unfortunately, vitamins are no substitute for a bit of hard work. Exercise, as unpleasant as it may seem, has been proven to be the key to living a long, healthy life, even if it’s just taking a brisk walk around the block every morning with your dog. The Mayo Clinic reports that even everyday activities like a ten-minute walk, mopping the floor, biking or pushing a lawn mower can increase energy, lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels, prevent or manage type 2 diabetes, manage weight and help prevent osteoporosis and cancer.
