The Massage Therapy Profession

Chances are pretty good that you have heard about massage therapy before this moment. It has had a surge in popularity over the last three decades. It has been around for far longer than that though. Hippocrates once wrote about massages as “rubbing” and that all physicians should be well versed in this technique. He was probably on to something, as evident by the recent demand for massage therapists, as people are clamoring for relief from their stress and anxiety at a masseuse’s hands.

Massage therapy does make sense if you ponder the issue. There are times when everyone has stiff, aching muscles or are suffering from stress and tension. The massage therapists can relax those muscles again and give you comfort through the use of essential oils and a particular massage technique. Their motions are actually mimicking the actions you would perform on yourself when you rub an area that is stiff.

Massage therapists perform a different function than a typical masseuse. The masseuse will use body lotions that are made from aromatherapy essential oils. This produces either a calming effect or makes the person feel rejuvenation all along their tired and aching body. A very popular essential oil is lavender. Lavender is known for its calming affect which in turn allows the individual, and their muscles, to relax.
