Owning a tanning bed may seem like a good option over spending money each month to visit the local sun tanning salon, but it may not be as good of an investment as you think it will be. Tanning beds are more damaging than the sun ever could possibly be and can lead to some tremendously bad health problems. You need to think about these problems before you jump into the sun bed again.

Tanning beds are very expensive. Not only will you will be out the money for the initial purchase, but have you considered how much it will be to maintain and use the tanning bed? A tanning bed can suck down electricity and your electric bill will definitely reflect your use. Tanning salons in towns and cities can afford this because they are renting out the equipment which is probably something you will not be doing.

It is more than the cost though. You may be able to afford the electricity bill and the cost of the tanning bed but can your skin afford it? It has been proven countless times that over exposure to the sun causes skin cancer. The light you receive from such a bed is a concentrated form of sunlight. Many people find themselves becoming addicted to tanning booths and beds, and will continuously use them even after they have achieved a dark skin tone.
