Important Tanning Ideas

If you were to see a celebrity, then chances are high that they would have golden, tanned skin. Why is that? It is because we naturally associate a glowing tan with a picture of youth and health. Times were once different. Tanned skin was the mark of the working class and the upper class had very pale skin. It was considered beneath them to be outside unprotected under the sun. Tanning is more than just a stereotype. It can be a way to find yourself with some serious health issues.

When the body is exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time, damage to the surface skin cells begins to occur. The damage can cause redness and the cells to mutate into skin cancer. It is estimated that one in five people will develop skin cancer sometime in their lives. Tanning in a booth just exacerbates the problem and increases the likelihood that you will get skin cancer.

There are ways to look tanned and golden without damaging your skin in the process. You can have fake tans that look like the real thing. That golden designer skin can be yours with some self tanning lotion. It is easy to apply if you know what you are doing. Most people make the mistake of trying to apply the lotion to dry skin. Fake tans are notorious for streaking and this is why it happens.
