Home Made Aromatherapy Products
If you walk into any grocery store, pharmacy or retail store, then you have a high chance of running into the latest trend in aromatherapy. Body lotions and other aromatherapy products have become a huge market. Entire stores are devoted to these special products and even in a local store you can find scented lotions, candles and bath salts to ease your stress, calm your mind or rejuvenate your flagging spirit. But you do not have to pay those huge markups at the local store. You can make these products yourself.
Most bath salts, lotions and candles all start off with a base, plus aromatherapy essential oils. It is the oils, of course, that give the product its scent. Different scents will illicit a different response from your body. Some people find lavender to be very effective in calming their mood and producing a feeling of tranquility. Peppermint oil is used to boost energy levels and give the body a wake-up call. Knowing which scent does what is essential information to have and will determine how you make your body lotions, pillar candles and body massage oils.
All aromatherapy products have a few things in common. The first is that they all have an essential oil found within. If you are making your own, then you need to pay attention to the use of that particular oil. Some oils are meant to be used on the skin and others are used as home fragrances. Knowing the difference could save you a painful lesson later. You should also know that all products begin with a base.
