Having a custom made home built, according to the design of your choice and on a limited budget is not an impossibility. It starts when you first decide to build your own house. You must first start with a architect. You may not meet with the chief architect personally, but you will meet with a designer who is familiar with the architectural style you wish to incorporate into your home. You then must decide on what is essential to the project and what are the luxuries that can be eliminated.

Before you begin, you must decide on what your budget will be and have a parcel of land on which to build. Hiring a landscape architect may not be in your budget, so planting shrubs, plants and flowers may be something you have to put off on until later. When you begin the actual building process there are some steps that must be completed in the proper order to ensure that the structure remains sound and strong. The foundation must be poured first, then the wall beams, once erected, and the insulation must be covered to ensure that rot does not take place in case of bad weather.

Once the design of a home has been finalized, the builder receives the plans from the architect. He or she will then consult you on what options you want to include in the interior. This is where you can save money. One example is to skip placing marble floors and go with stained concrete. The stained concrete gives the same look but at a fraction of the price.
