Clarifying The Dental Assistant Certification Test
After you have completed your dental assistant training, it will be time to take the dental assistant certification test. The test is perhaps the most anxious part of the entire course and causes the most frustration on the part of the student. It should not be this way. If you have prepared for the test over the course of the last year and have performed your internship, then you have acquired the necessary skills needed to do the job and are ready for the dental assistant program examination.
A dental assistant certification test will vary depending on the type of assistant you wish to be. There are different career path options that are available to you within the dental healthcare field. You can be a certified dental assistant, a certified orthodontic assistant or a certified dental practice management administrator. The job duties of each vary, as do the testing procedures.
The certified dental assistant test has three components that make up the exam. The first is the general chair side exam. This exam consists of 120 questions and will cover the basics. The second is the infection control exam and consists of 100 multiple choice questions. It is also part of the orthodontic assistant exam. The third component is the radiation health and safety exam. It also has 100 multiple choice questions.
