Common Auto Racing Questions
What is auto racing?
Auto racing is a sport in which automobiles race. They can either race the clock or fellow drivers to see who has the fastest car and is the best driver. Auto racing dates back to the advent of the automobile. Even then people were interested in more speed and outracing their fellow competitors. It has grown into a very popular sport, especially in the Southern United States where racing has developed into its very own marketing niche. People race everything from motorbikes, cars to trucks in order to gain fame and glory. Some people race on a competitive circuit professionally and some are amateurs racing at local drag strips.
I do not want to compete in a professional auto race, are there amateur races?
There are quite a lot of amateur races that happen every weekend across the country. Many of these amateur races are sponsored by car clubs. They offer amateur drivers the chance to race against cars in their class to see who the better driver with the better car is. If you are interested in racing in an amateur event you first need to determine if your car is suitable for racing and if you want to take the chance with your vehicle. There is no guarantee that you will not wreck and this can cause many insurance companies to frown on paying out a settlement. There are also safety regulations that must be taken into account if you are going to race.
Isn’t auto racing dangerous?
Yes, auto racing is dangerous. There is no way around that. You are driving at a high rate of speed and there is always the chance that you will wreck. The wreck may be your fault or it may be the other drivers but there is still a chance. But for adrenaline junkies the risk is well worth the thrill of driving at top speeds and beating fellow competitors. If you take the proper precautions and make sure that your vehicle is rigged with safety equipment you can lower your risk of injury. You should always make sure that your car is in good condition before the race. This means checking the air pressure in the tires, checking the tire condition itself and making sure that your engine is running properly. With the right information and precautions you can reduce any potential risks that may occur.
I like to watch amateur’s racing on television. Are there any good shows to watch?
There are several great shows to watch but one that stands out is Speed TV’s Pinks and Pinks-All Out. You can sit back in the comfort of your home and watch as amateurs race their pride and joys against other racers. The winner gets to take home the loser’s car. This is not a show about cars racing around the track though. These cars are set up on drag strips and get to run as fast as they can go.
