Bluetooth Technology Clarified For You

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Do all phones have Bluetooth capabilities?

No, not all cell phones have Bluetooth technology. The lower priced models may not have Bluetooth as an offered feature. The higher end models do include Bluetooth technology but in order to be sure you must ask your wireless cell phone provider for information.

Can someone pick up my conversation on a scanner or other device while I am using my Bluetooth?

Yes, technically someone can listen in on your conversation if it is transmitted using radio waves. But that problem is not reserved solely for hands-free cell phone users. That is not the biggest worry though. Your immediate concern should be for the security of your cell phone with the information you send.

Learn Bathroom Remodeling Here

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

I’m ready to remodel my bathroom. Where do I begin?

The first thing you need to do is to set a budget. You should be realistic and price a few of the amenities that you wish to include in the bathroom in order to set your budget. The next step is deciding what stays and what needs to go. Outdated fixtures, horrible tile and inefficient countertops usually are the first things the homeowner wants to toss to the curb. After you have made the fundamental decisions of what type of decorating scheme, paint color, tile color, and bathroom fixtures and amenities it is time to begin. That seems like a lot of work, and it is, but the reward is a bathroom that works well for you. It is really helpful if you can afford to hire a designer and a general contractor if you intend to do major work. You might also check out some do-it-yourself websites and television shows to get an idea of what you will need to know.

Learning About Art Auctions

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

I am not able to travel to the big name auctions. Are there any online?

Many auction houses now have websites available that allow you to bid online. Some even allow you to place a maximum bid if you are not able to be there for the live bidding. This is really common on Ebay with estate auctions. Be careful though. Please make sure and read all the fine print before bidding on any piece of art work. Many people have placed a bid on a piece expecting to receive a one of a kind original by a famous artist only to find out it is a reproduction or print. With some online auctions you will have to pay as soon as bidding is finished and there may be associated fees for the auction house along with taxes. One additional note: remember to think about shipping and handling. Large pieces of art work can be very expensive to ship, even if you are in the continental U.S. and will be much more if being shipped globally.

Speed Reading Clarified

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

What is speed reading?

Speed reading is the act of quickly absorbing written information. The goal is to read quickly but still retain comprehension of the material. The rate at which people read material is not a constant and varies greatly depending on several factors. Some material, such as school work or manuals, may require more contemplation and fewer distractions in order to process and still understand what is being conveyed. Being able to read ten books in a single day is useless if the reader is unable to retain comprehension of the material.

What is the speed of an average reader?

Almost daily there are new models of electronics that advertise that they are Bluetooth enhanced. Many people are excited to see this technology take off and become more common, while others are still not quite up to speed about it and are left asking, “What is Bluetooth?”

Bluetooth mobile wireless technology has become one of the leading technologies for wireless communication world wide. The reason it has become so popular around the globe, in just a few short years since its introduction, is because it allows phones, computers, PDAs and other electronic devices to easily communicate with the other enabled devices nearby. The range of its networking is limited to a short range of about 30 feet.

Fine Art Auction In North America

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Heffel House are a few North American choices when it comes to attending a fine art auction. One needn’t travel all the way to England to find that next masterpiece. Despite a shaky economy, Americans are proving that their love for timeless art pieces has not diminished at all. The trends, in fact, are au contraire!

The fine art auction thrives today, despite the emergence and subsequent popularity of online auctions on eBay. Many bidders still love the wine samples, the dressing up, the perusing a physical gallery and the social aspect of attending an auction in person. Many of Christie’s North American fine art auctions reel in 6,000 to 7,000 eager participants and finish with millions in net gains.
